Sustainable Utilization of Dumped Concrete Wastes as Fine Aggregates in Concrete – An Experimental Study

چکیده

Dumped construction waste (municipal solid waste) is a major threat to the environment in recent times due its abundance generation resulting from increased activities. Perhaps, scarcity of materials also alarming urbanization necessitating an alternative suitable material. Concerning above complications, this research encompasses sustainable use concrete fractions as replacement for natural fine aggregate (NFA) termed recycled (FRA). However, FRA disrupts properties weak interfacial transition zone (ITZ) ensuing adherence cement particles and finer dust particles. This study investigates effective utilization through mortar mixing approach (MMA) technique with varying percentages FRA. The optimum proportion substitute NFA was observed be 30%, increase strength by 7.85%, while it decreased 23.5% 100% at 28 days. Through MMA, 9.93%, 19.45% stiff matrix developed result MMA tends strengthen ITZ improve concrete.

Utilization of Solid Wastes (waste Glass and Rubber Particles) as Aggregates in Concrete

Post-consumer glass represents a major component of solid waste. On the other hand, more than 100 million tons of coal combustion ash are generated in the U.S. annually, of which 60 million tons are fly ash. To deal with these problems, two new materials were developed: “glascrete” and “ashcrete.” They have the potential of being made almost entirely from recycled materials: crushed mix-color w...

Characterization of Fine Aggregates in Concrete by Different Experimental Approaches

Being its major component, aggregate can occupy up to three-quarter of the volume of concrete. The structure of aggregate formed in hardened state impacts largely on mechanical and durability properties of concrete. On another hand, physical characteristics of aggregate are primarily assumed to be relevant to granular behavior of aggregate. Therefore, characterization of aggregate is of high re...

Use of glass wastes as fine aggregate in Concrete

Glass is widely used in our lives through manufactured products such as sheet glass, bottles, glassware, and vacuum tubing. Glass is an ideal material for recycling. The use of recycled glass helps in energy saving. The increasing awareness of glass recycling speeds up inspections on the use of waste glass with different forms in various fields. One of its significant contributions is to the co...

Experimental Investigation on the Properties of Concrete with Plastic PET (Bottle) Fibres as Fine Aggregates

The Disposal of large quantity of plastic cover may cause pollution of land, water bodies and air. The proposed concrete which is made up by adding plastic in concrete may help to reuse the plastic cover as one of the constituents material of concrete, to improve the certain properties of concrete. The properties of concrete as varying percentages of plastic will test for compressive strength a...

Bonding Behavior of Deformed Steel Rebars in Sustainable Concrete Containing both Fine and Coarse Recycled Aggregates

In order to assess the bond behavior of deformed steel rebars in recycled-aggregate concrete (RAC) incorporating both fine and coarse recycled aggregate, pull-out tests were carried out in this study on 16-mm diameter deformed steel rebars embedded concentrically in RAC. The concrete was designed using equivalently mixed proportions of both recycled coarse aggregate and recycled fine aggregate....
